Braised Green Beans


Based on the recipe I found on Food & Wine: Braised Green Beans with Tomatoes and Garlic Recipe - Rita Nakouzi | Food & Wine

INGREDIENTS
2    tablespoons olive oil
1    large onion, thinly sliced
5    garlic cloves
1 1/2    teaspoons ground paprika
1 teaspoon mix of italian herbs

1 1/2    pounds green beans
1 1/2   tablespoons tomato paste
One 16-ounce can crushed tomatoes tomatoes
Salt and freshly ground black pepper


1. Cook sliced onion in olive oil over moderate heat until translucent and softened, about 8 minutes.

2. Add the minced garlic, paprika, tomato paste and herbs, stirring, until fragrant, about 2 minutes.

3. Add the green beans and sautee for a few minutes.

4. Pour the diced tomatoes and their juices into the skillet and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the green beans are very tender, about 40 minutes. Season the braised green beans with salt and pepper. Transfer them to a platter and serve warm or at room temperature.
